Christmas Food Around the World

For many of us, thoughts of the holidays also bring to mind favorite dishes we’ve enjoyed all our lives. Maybe it’s a special family recipe or something you bake every year. Maybe it’s a special meal that you and your family share. Sharing special food with our loved ones is a tradition that is almost universal.

With this Free Christmas Foods Around the World Guided Drawing unit, kids can learn about foods such as:

  • bûche de Noël (France)
  • chapattis and nyama choma (Kenya)
  • Christmas cake (Ireland)
  • kahk (Egypt)
  • kutya (Russia)
  • puto bumbóng (Philippines)
  • rabanada (Brazil)
  • roast turkey and vegetables (England)
  • stollen (Germany)
  • Three Kings Cake (Mexico)

This unit includes one-two paragraphs about each special food and Christmas traditions in that country along with two guided drawing activities for each. Ten comprehension questions and an answer key conclude the unit.

Students can learn which of these favorite foods is cooked in bamboo, which sweet pastry is considered better than fruit cake, which country decorates cypress trees for Christmas, and much more!
