If you’ve been a homeschooling family for any length of time, you know there’s a whole lot of uncertainty. Yet there is undoubtedly one thing you can count on. Your kids will be hungry. All the time. That’s why make-ahead homeschool snacks are a homeschool mama’s best friend.

Mothers and children reading and making snacks

Being at home it’s all too easy for kids to ask mom for food when they want a break from a history lesson or math drill. Yet once you add food prep to a couple of snack requests each day, your lesson time can turn into extended-snack-break time, and leave you feeling frustrated.

Do what I do. Plan ahead with make-ahead homeschool snacks. I even created a 10-page recipe book of my favorite frugal quickbreads and muffins to help me prepare! And it’s free until February 7, 2020. You’ll find a link to it at the bottom of this post.

After all, I plan our homeschool year, use meal plans weekly, and plan our homeschool workspaces.

By planning my make-ahead homeschool snacks we can just grab a freezer bag of goodies and fruit a few times a week. Other times we’ll bake up a big batch of baked goods during freezer meal cooking day (a great hands-on homeschool activity).

So now daily snack prep time now takes 30 seconds instead of 30 minutes. And that math lesson or copywork exercise can carry right along on schedule.

Planning Snacks Save Time, Money, & Sanity

The best make-ahead homeschool snacks are nutritious, frugal, and easy for your kids to and loved by your kids. It might take some experimenting, but you’ll soon find out what works best for your family.

30 Make-Ahead Homeschool Snacks

Every family is a little different, but here’s a list of 30 of my family’s favorite homeschool snacks.

  1. Applesauce
  2. Apple Sour Cream Coffee Cake
  3. Banana Flax Seed Bread
  4. Frozen banana slices dipped in chocolate (just slice them up, dip them in chocolate, and freeze on a waxed-paper lined cookie sheet. Then portion them into 1/2 cup servings and store in sandwich bags in the freezer. I remove them about 1/2 hour before snack time.)
  5. Beef Jerky
  6. Frozen cantaloupe pieces (take out a bag in the morning and they’re semi-frozen by snacktime. And by the way, these are a favorite of teething babies and toddlers as well.)
  7. Fruit Leather (try making your own in a dehydrator with apples and foraged berries)
  8. Honey Graham Cornbread
  9. Easiest Make-Ahead Homeschool Snacks – Hardboiled Eggs
  10. Healthy Cranberry Orange Loaf
  11. Homemade Granola
