Do you even know what a hygrometer is? I didn’t until I started to homeschool. I learned so much more in homeschooling my kids than I ever did in my own school experience. I didn’t think my brain could take any more information, but it just keeps happening. Learn all about what a hygrometer is and how your kids can make one in homeschool.
A hygrometer is a tool utilized to measure the amount of humidity in the air, mostly used in the desert. What this awesome resource does is break up the boring in science and helps your kids make a do-it-yourself easy hair hygrometer.
It is super interesting to understand how the hygrometer was invented and how it actually works. I couldn’t stop reading. According to the resource, the understanding behind making this hygrometer for hair is that when it’s humid, hair increases in length and when the air is dry, the hair will shorten.
A lot of the supplies needed for this DIY science project are probably things you already have at home — AWESOME for thrifty parents:
- Cardboard
- A pair of scissors
- A strand of hair that’s one foot long
- A hot glue gun
- push pin
- dime
- pen for marking
- tape measure
