Motherhood is one of life’s greatest blessings. However,  it’s also one of the most challenging roles you’ll ever have. Caring around the clock for others and raising them to become loving, thoughtful adults, can wear on your emotions some days. Add the responsibilities of homeschooling, and maybe even working from home and it’s all too easy to get discouraged.

That’s why self-care for homeschool mothers is so important. And taking care of yourself is more than just physical – it’s also emotional. And it’s critical to find ways to stay encouraged as a homeschool mom.

5 Ways to Stay Encouraged as a Mom

With children ranging in age from thirty down to 7, I’ve learned much about parenting (and homeschooling) over the years. And while I don’t hold myself out as an expert, I’ve found several ways to stay encouraged when I’m feeling frustrated, confused, lost, or just downright exhausted with my mom duties!

Here are five things that have worked for me – and maybe they can help you too.

#1. Pray and/or Meditate on Scripture

Sometimes I use a Bible app on my phone, and other times I return to my well-worn King James Bible. I’ll read a few lines, journal, or take part in an online Bible study.

#2. Journaling

Yes, journaling does help! Spending even just 15 minutes daily to record my thoughts, fears, frustrations, hopes and successes helps. I find that when I try to find at least ONE good thing that happened with my children on even the most difficult days, I feel encouraged.

#3. Read a Christian Parenting Book

There are so many out there, but I have to say that hands-down, anything that Sally Clarkson writes (I just love Awakening Wonder) will get my vote!

#4. Talk to a Trusted Friend or Counselor

Whether you can meet for coffee, a Zoom chat, or even just text back-and-forth during the day, having mom-friends is SO important to help stay encouraged.

#5. Save your Favorite Encouraging Quotes for Mom

Save your favourite quotes in places you will see them and be reminded of the important work you’re doing. Maybe make a pretty screen saver on your phone or laptop. Or create a hand-drawn cover for your journal using your favourite quote. Perhaps just save this link right to your home screen on your phone.

The key is to experiment and find out what YOU can do to keep yourself going on the marathon of being a mom. I know you can do it.

I hope this list of encouraging quotes for mom has blessed you.
