Teaching your child to read is one of the biggest milestones in your homeschooling career. But there is more to reading than just learning the words. They need to learn how to process the words, understand their meaning and reconcile that to what they already know.
Once my children learn to read on their own, I start bringing in reading comprehension exercises. These can be anything from a one-page short story with simple questions to reviews at the end of chapters. Teaching them reading comprehension will prepare them for the future and help them succeed on tests, in college and beyond.
I searched around for some free resources to help you all out! I hope you like what I found!
