We love soup around here! I love that it only uses one pot and that you can put so many different veggies into soup and they taste like well, soup! My kids barely notice all the extra servings of veggies they get in soup! I also love that they ask for soup all the time! In Florida it hot about 9-10 months out of the year and making a huge pot of soup sure does heat up the kitchen. That’s why I like to take advantage of making soup as much as I can in the winter time!
I am going to share with you some of my absolute favorite soup recipes and some recipes that are on my list to try this year:
Our Family Favorites:
Tortellini Soup from AllRecipes – this is a FAMILY Favorite! I am so thankful to Carrie for introducing this recipe to me! I always get asked by extended family to make this soup. It is just fabulous! I have tweaked it a bit and add yellow squash to it as well as zucchini and I also double the recipe. It is a lot of chopping and a lot of prep work but it is so completely worth it. It also freezes very well! We have made this soup a Christmas Eve Tradition. It’s great with an Italian salad and a piece of crunchy bread!
Loaded Baked Potato Soup – Disneyland Recipe! Disney sure does have some amazing recipes and I love that they share them!
Simple Chicken and Rice Soup from The Pioneer Woman – I tweak this recipe just a bit. I don’t add yellow food coloring and instead add a pinch of turmeric for it’s amazing health properties. I also use brown rice or wild rice instead of white.
Creamy Tomato Basil from The Blond Cook – This is another favorite. Who can resist Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches? I love the flavor of this soup. So much better than Campbell’s! This one is our New Year’s Eve Tradition. We always have friends and family over for New Year’s Eve and we hang out until well after midnight. I always have this soup simmering on the stove. It is great to slurp on throughout the cold night!
The Best French Onion Soup from Little House Living – we love this soup, La Gruyere cheese is the recommended cheese, but she says that you can use others if you need to. I don’t recommend that as we did use Mozarella in a pinch one time and it is sooo stringy that we had a little one start choking on it! La Gruyere is the best and only cheese in my opinion because of it’s melting point, it is also very inexpensive at Trader Joe’s.
Epcot’s La Cellier Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup from Disney Food Blog – if you have never tried this soup, you are missing out! The flavors are amazing!
Cafe Rio’s Chicken Tortilla Soup by Favorite Family Recipes – I love this soup with LOTS of fresh cilantro! This also freezes well!
Soups we must try:
Creamy Tomato Tortellini Soup from Recipe Swagger– we love tomato soup and tortellini soup. This looks like it’s the best of both worlds! This soup is on our must try list for the winter!
Copycat Olive Garden Minestrone Soup from The Frugal Navy Wife – YUMMY! I love this soup and have never tried to replicate it.
Have you ever tried to make soup in the crockpot? I never have and it’s very tempting to try!
Crockpot Chicken Noodle Soup by YummyMummyClub – I have to try this! Chicken thighs make the best soup!
Slow Cooker Broccoli Cheese Soup by Cooking Classy – I bet this is really easy!
Crockpot Lentil Soup with Kielbasa by Very Culinary – This must have amazing flavor!
I hope you enjoy the savory smell of soup filling your home with winter!
