Winter Poetry Study and Ideas

It is winter time here! Even in Florida, we have seen record temperatures and some cities even saw snow flurries. It has been absolutely freezing this January and this is the perfect time to brew some tea, coffee or hot cocoa and curl up with some good winter poetry.

Winter Poetry Study Ideas
We are Charlotte Mason homeschoolers and we like to incorporate poetry into our school time and are always reading and memorizing poems in our home. There are many ways to do poetry study, our favorite way is just by reading lots and lots of good poetry. You can choose to study a specific poet for a set amount of time in a unit study sort of manner or you can do a poetry study based on a specific theme.

I like to study themed poetry around the holidays and different seasons. It really immerses our kids into what we are learning and can cover different subjects at one time. This also works great if you are doing seasonal nature study as well. Many seasonal poems speak greatly of the nature around them.
