Language Arts was one of the only subjects I remember from school. It was interesting to me how language worked; how there were rules that the English language should follow. All the rules aren’t the easiest to remember in our language. This ultimate list of memory tools for phonics, vocabulary, and grammar will help your students remember.

The Ultimate List of Language Arts Memory Tools

I was good at Language Arts. I remember because I wasn’t really good at anything else. It is unfortunate that I didn’t get to use those skills much until college, at which time I had forgotten a lot of it. I got through high school, not having to write much of anything in school. This meant a LOT of playing catch up in undergraduate school.

I fell in love with Language Arts all over again in college. One problem was that I noticed some of the rules had changed. There was a slight evolution to what I had learned in Language Arts and the semantics of writing.

Instance, where we once had to use the adverbs most or more in front of words like clear or simple  — things had changed. I was told never to use the words clearer or simpler while I was in grade school, yet here we are today with those words being the norm and perfectly acceptable.

With things like this that may evolve, it is good to get a system down for memorizing the basic semantics of Language Arts for our children to build on.
