When we began traveling around several years ago, one of the things I wanted my kids to see and experience were lakes and rivers. We had only been to the lake near us a handful of times and even then it was pretty restricted. I wanted them to see and realize that our country offered so much more than that tiny lake we knew.
I am still dreaming of the day we can take a family trip to Colorado and experience the real mountain streams and how cool and refreshing they are. But in the meantime, we can make do and learn all kinds of fascinating things about the lakes, rivers, streams and creeks around our area!
And because we are not always extremely organized in our homeschooling schedule, I love finding new and fun resources to use as we study a subject. As we move into what can be the hottest month of summer, suddenly studying water – lakes, ponds and rivers – doesn’t seem like a bad idea!
With a quick search and look around online, I was able to gather some great resources that could easily be combined to make your own Bodies of Water Unit Study. Most of these printables are absolutely free, which I love, but I did find a few that were well worth the price for what you get!
