Explorers A to Z Volume 3 McClure to SchweinfurthWhich explorer’s love of plants led him to explore the Upper Nile region of Africa? Which explorer went looking for Australia but instead found Vanuatu and several other islands? Which explorer is credited with discovering the Northwest Passage, even though he didn’t actually travel the entire passage by water?

Explorers A to Z is a free download that looks at the lesser-known explorers. It skips over Columbus and da Gama and looks instead at Marie Joseph Garnier, Sven Hedin, and others that are sometimes forgotten.

In this printable, you’ll learn about six of these men: McClure, Nachtigal, de Orellana, Pinzón, Quirós, Roggeveen, and Schweinfurth. Every few weeks, we’ll discover a few more until we’ve worked our way from A to Z. There are a few questions to get you thinking and some space to record your answers. There are also some notebooking pages at the end of the printable to write down other things you learn about the explorers and their destinations. One page is blank; the other four are themed so you can give each explorer a sheet that is related to the types of places he visited, if you’d like.

So grab a compass, a map, and maybe an encyclopedia. And get ready to rediscover the history of explorers.

If you missed Volume 1 and Volume 2, you can still download them free. And if you enjoy learning about explorers, don’t miss the Explorer History and Quiz Game on sale now but only through June 13, 2015.
