FREE Great Depression Unit Study

Do you struggle to engage your kids in history? Do you wonder how to tackle some of the sadder periods of history such as the Great Depression? Unit studies can help you with both those challenges.

How to Use:

Let’s start by looking at how the FREE Great Depression Unit Study helps engage kids in history. This unit incorporates ten subjects into one unit so you don’t have to spend hours only doing history. It provides a backdrop to the events at the beginning along with a short history project, but then it weaves history into nine more subjects.

Instead of focusing only on history, students can engage with art projects, study the Bible, put on a play, sharpen geography skills, learn about health and nutrition, broaden their vocabulary, practice math skills, write a song, and even learn about different kinds of leaves.

By starting with a simple overview of the period, it helps you avoid having to go too deeply into the hard parts of the Great Depression all at once. This is especially helpful if you have sensitive students who react strongly to learning about sad events.

Who is this study designed for?

The unit study is designed for elementary grades, with two bonus projects included to help provide a challenge for upper elementary students.

It can be done at any pace but can fit comfortably within two weeks or less. Each subject is on its own page, so it’s simple to print and divide into binders or project folders.
