CVC words are words that follow the pattern ‘consonant-vowel-consonant’. They are a great starting point for practice combining letter sounds together and create meaningful words.
For kindergarten students, it is much easier to learn to read CVC words that have the same pattern (word family). The CVC word list brings the easiest way for teachers and parents to choose words for the next lesson or activity. The list and spelling dictionary contains nearly 500 CVCC, CCVC, CCVCC, and CVC short vowel words.
CVC words example: rat, mat, cat.
CCVC words example: bled, bred.
CVCC words example: bath, math.
CCVCC words examples: block, clock.
CCVC and CVCC words are words that begin or end with a blend or digraph.
