Until we moved to Indiana, I never really dreamed about visiting Tennessee. After we moved there, we heard great things about Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, so it became a dream to visit and check it out for ourselves. This past summer we were able to make the trip and even took some time to really hike around the Smoky Mountains. The kids had an absolute blast and we loved waking up to the mountains every morning.
On our way to the Smokies, we were also able to travel through Memphis and Nashville and stay a few nights near each. It was fun to see what was there and enjoy some different scenery. We would love to return one day and have more time to visit different parts of the Smoky Mountains National Park and even more of the state. For now, we’ll do more research and learn about the different sites we can see next time. If you’d like to learn more about the state, use these resources below. There are printable to help kids learn about the states history, geography, symbols, plus crafts and activities. You could even cook up some of the states favorite and most famous recipes with your unit!
