Columbus Day is one of those holidays I remember having the day off school. I don’t actually remember learning about Christopher Columbus around that day though. However, I do remember learning about him as an explorer.
For many, there is controversy that surrounds Christopher Columbus. So I encourage you to do your own research and find out the truth behind these allegations. Second, I still believe you should teach about him and his discovery of America. Because frankly, if he didn’t set sail and arrive in America, we wouldn’t be where we are today. It is part of our country’s history.
Whether you choose to celebrate Columbus Day or just learn about the explorer and his discoveries, I hope you will find these resources useful in your homeschool.
