As a new year begins, it is natural that we reflect and look to the future. It is popular these days to choose a word for the year. A word that becomes your “theme” or focus to help you stay on target or on track to help you achieve your goals.
Goal setting for your homeschool can be about a single word and/or phrase. You can set an overall homeschool goal as well as individual goals for each child. But it is also important that your kids set their own goals so they are striving for something attainable.
It is important that you don’t make the goals outrageous or unattainable, or you (and your kids) will quickly get discouraged and give up. That isn’t what you want to see in the first few months. Make a large goal that can be broken down into smaller steps they can achieve weekly or monthly.
With smaller steps in place, it will do two things. It will help them see bigger goals take time, but making strides and moving forward is key. And two, they will see it doesn’t have to be scary to set a big goal because it is worth it when you achieve them.
Help your kids set their own goals this year – whether for homeschool, life or both – by using these FREE printable worksheets and resources!
