My daughter loves books! I am stoked about that because when I was her age, I had no interest in books whatsoever. My daughter is a bookworm and proud of it. We can’t get books easily where I live (somewhere far, far away in the Pacific Ocean) – so, thank goodness for the internet. Check out 20 of the best-suggested book lists on the internet for your family.

20 Best Suggested Book Lists on the Internet

When I first started homeschooling, I was excited to encourage my kids to read more books. What I quickly found out was that it took a long time to find books that were good for my kids to read. In “good”, I meant wholesome, yet relevant, — books that enriched her mind, yet were fun.

I say thank goodness for the internet because, without it, I honestly don’t know how we would have discovered some of the gems read in our homeschool. Don’t get me wrong. We love the library as well. They just don’t have everything, and there aren’t recommendations to help us. You search and hope that the book is semi-good, at least.

In came the amazing internet to save the day – with the recommended book lists. I love the idea of people going through books, then recommending them to the world. I do not like it when I can’t get into a book.

I can cope and stick it out in hopes that something great would happen at the end. My kids on the other hand, if they are reading a book and it doesn’t grab their attention or interest, that book will be left right where they found it. I can assign them books to read for school, but when it comes to leisure reading, I want them to truly enjoy it.

Reading is such a wonderful outlet for kids. It is an escape from reality for just a moment. Reading gains are knowledge and understanding that no one can take from them.

During my school years, no one ever made me read a book. Not even my teachers knew I didn’t read the books for reports and assignments. I was just able to get by. I faced difficulty trying to catch up with people in college. I don’t want to do that to my kids, so we use book lists to help us pick the best books for us.

In an attempt to help you not have to sort through a gazillion books through the internet, here are few reading lists that have helped us in our homeschool journey.

Before we get started on 20 recommended sites with booklists, I wanted to tell you about one of the best resources I have found for quality book lists.

Erica from whatwedoallday.com has a page that links to over 200 books by theme and grade that her children love. I recently found her book lists on Pinterest and have started following her. You will find books lists broken down by age, book lists by theme, topic, “if your kids like…,” classics, and more. I highly recommend you checking out her master book list page of over 200 posts

This is a great source for downloadable library lists of pre-screened books.
