In this day and age of media streaming services and YouTube channels, there can be positive and negative effects. I think we all know the negative effects of too much media, or inappropriate media to be wary of, but there are many positives. One of these is being able to use it to help us in our homeschools!

I know there is such a thing as too much screen time, and we do need to be cautious of that. We also need to be cautious of what we are letting our children watch, and to preview things first. But there are some great YouTube channels out there that are wonderful for not only homeschooling, but also for family friendly entertainment.

I love using YouTube for something free to do, when we have some downtime and want some family time that doesn’t take the commitment of a full length movie! It works well for homeschooling when you have little ones or you need to work one on one with another child. I love creating playlists for history and science themes we are working on.

There are tons of channels to choose from, and lifestyle YouTubers you can follow, based on your likes and interests. Most of these would go well with homeschooling. This is not an exhaustive list, but some of our favorites (over 70 of them) that friends have recommended as well as others that we personally know. Like anything, make sure you preview as some may not fit your worldview.
