Like many of you, I love my Instant Pot. I have been using it since it came out – making bone broth and yogurt weekly and trying to cook as many meals in it as possible. Just ask my teenager, she has to clean it after use. Ha!
I have a fairly decent sized kitchen, but even so, my counter space tends to get taken up with mini “appliances,” such as our coffee pot, KitchenAid mixer, toaster, Instant Pot…you get the idea.
I have wanted an air fryer for a while now, but I kept putting it of because, well…where in the world will I put it?
Enter the CrispLid from Mealthy. This brand new pressure cooking accessory will turn your Instant Pot or most ANY 6-8 quart pressure cooker into an air fryer. I was sent one to try out and wow – this is a game changer!
I was provided a free product in return for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed herein are my own and not influenced by the developing company and/or its affiliates in any way.
Often times when using my Instant Pot, I have wished that I could get the cheese to turn golden and “broiled,” or brown the whole chicken after cooking it instead of it looking all pale. The CrispLid will brown, crisp, or air “fry” your food.
The best part – there isn’t another appliance to find a place for. The CrispLid will fit in my pan cupboard.
Here’s what you get with the CrispLid:
- Mealthy Crisplid
- Air Fryer Basket
- Silicone Tongs
- Silicone Pot Holder
- Tall Legged Trivet
- Recipe Booklet
- Users Guide
How to use the CrispLid:
If you plan to cook using your pressure cooker prior to using your CrispLid, you will need to release the pressure and unplug it before placing your CrispLid onto it. The cord is rather short, so you will need to keep that in mind while using it.
Using the handle of the CrispLid, you will place it on top of the stainless steel insert of your pressure cooker (it will ONLY work with a stainless inner pot, not a ceramic one). You will hear a click to indicate it is secure and ready.
After you select your temperature (300 to 500°F) and cooking time (goes up to 60 minutes), you simply press the start button, which looks like a triangle.
I am known to stand in front of my oven and watch the food brown and sizzle under the broiler, so I am pretty happy that the CrispLid has a glass lid that allows you to see your food crisp up.
Since your CrispLid will come with all the needed accessories, you can transform your Instant Pot or compatible pressure cooker into an air fryer without having to purchase anything additional. The handy silicone trivet is perfect to use to place your HOT lid on after you remove it from your pressure cooker.
HELLO CHICKEN WINGS!
My husband made chicken wings using the CrispLid from Mealthy and they were amazing! We were so excited about using it and reading the guide that we didn’t document his steps though, and he never uses a recipe when seasoning. Can you tell I am not a foodie blogger? LOL
Next I am going to try making sweet potato fries. The included recipe book has a bunch of helpful recipes that will get you started – they are easy to modify!
