National New Jersey Day Ideas

Every state in the US has a national day and the official National New Jersey Day is on July 27. We think it’s the perfect time to change up your lunch or dinner plans to include foods New Jersey is known for such as blueberries, pork rolls or Shriver’s original saltwater taffy.

If your little ones enjoy stories then we recommend the 1949 Caldecott Honors award-winning book Blueberries for Sal to read together. Then have the entire family help you taste-test a new blueberry recipe such as one from the Blueberries for Sal Cookbook.

Older kids can also take time to learn about New Jersey’s history with our 7-page state history printable where they will be able to create a map of the state, organize events chronologically, and explore more of the state’s exciting past with writing prompts. Grab it free below!
