I know they’ve been around a while, but I recently discovered the goodness of mug cakes. With all my allergies, I couldn’t do the easy packets from the store and I struggle to find a “sweet treat” that tastes good. So I stayed away from them, until now.
A few months ago I found a pre-packaged mug cake mix from one of my trusted allergy-friendly companies. I was still skeptical, but I gave it a whirl…and I was pleasantly surprised. Then I became obsessed with trying to find a make-at-home recipe that would be even healthier and ready in just a few minutes from ingredients I had at home.
Thus began my search on the interwebs for a delicious, yet healthy mug cake. I couldn’t believe how many different options I found. Some of them I will work on tweaking to fit my allergies, but most of all I am just excited to give them a try.
I love the idea of mug cakes for several reasons. First, they can be made for just one person. Second, each person can customize and make their own flavor. Third, it is a small portion that satisfies the sweet tooth, without tempting you with the whole cake. And finally, they don’t heat up the kitchen! It doesn’t get much better than that!
With all these great ideas, I had to gather them in one handy place for you (and me). And of course, my kids had to chime in with their wishes and favorites. So this list contains both sweet treats and healthy versions to cover every one!
Everyone can enjoy their favorite sweet treat with one of these Mug Cake recipes!
