Can you believe we are already making plans for New Years Eve? Celebrate the end of the year with some fun crafts, activities and free New Year’s Eve printables.
We have always loved doing a midnight countdown with our kids. This year as I searched for some new activities, I was amazed at all we could add to our festivities. Many of these you can do on the hour to count down to midnight.
We are homebodies on major holidays. My husband doesn’t like us to go out in crowds with lots of people that may be under the influence and driving on the roads. So we keep it safe and stay home. We like to invite other families over and ring in the New Year together.
What can you do at home on New Year’s Eve?
We have been celebrating the new year at home for as long as I can remember. We have some traditions we like to stick to, but we like mix it up each year. Here are some of our tried and true favorite things to do at home on New Year’s Eve:
- Appetizers and snacks all night long. My girls love making fun snacks like cheese dip, charcuterie, pigs in a blanket, veggies and ranch dip. We make a bunch ahead of time, and sometimes we even cook together throughout the evening.
- Board games and card games. Family games are a lot of fun to play as you are waiting for the clock to count down.
- Sparklers and fireworks are a big tradition for our neighborhood and a fun way to get to know your neighbors.
- Crafts and fun coloring pages and printables for the kids to stay busy while trying not to fall asleep.
- Make some homemade party hats and party blowers for the kids for midnight.
- Pots and pans and homemade shakers for the midnight celebration.
Whether you have a big blowout celebration with friends and family or you just hang out with the kids at home for a quiet night in, we’ve got you covered!
