Here are a few suggestions for making your family talent show a success:

Dress the part.
Made a big deal out of picking outfits and dressing up for the show. This is optional, but it can add a level of excitement and professionalism to the event, especially in quarantine times when outings are limited.

Invite an audience.
Set up a video live stream for Grandma and Grandpa or other family members to attend. if you prefer to keep it to a more private, exclusive event, have your kids set up their stuffed animals as the audience.

Set up practice time.
Challenge each child, even your youngest, to present a thought-out and practiced talent rather than one just made up on the fly a couple hours beforehand. This is a great way to get your kids off screens and focused on something constructive during free time. Encourage independence or sibling support during practice so the final performance is a surprise.

Parent involvement is HIGHLY encouraged!
If your children are not used to performing, they might be a little shy about it. Sharing a talent of your own can help them feel more at ease. Plus, what child doesn’t love to watch Mom or Dad stumble through a long-forgotten instrument or dance routine?
