The week before Easter is a special time. To help celebrate Holy Week with your homeschool family, we’ve gathered all the information needed to take a virtual tour of where Jesus went during the week of His death and resurrection. Even though modern-day Jerusalem is very different from Jerusalem during Bible times, seeing the places in relation to each other can connect the dots for children and adults alike and bring even deeper meaning to this holy week!

Holy Week on Google Maps

PALM SUNDAY
Entering Jerusalem on a donkey
The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
…And Jesus, when he had found a young donkey, sat thereon; as it is written:
“Fear not, daughter of Zion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on a donkey’s colt” (John 12:12-15).

HOLY MONDAY
Clearing of the Temple
“And Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves” (Matthew 21:12-17).

HOLY TUESDAY
Teaching in Jerusalem
Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds” (John 12:20-26).

SPY WEDNESDAY
Jesus’ feet anointed in Bethany by Mary Magdalene
“Then Jesus six days before the Passover came to Bethany…Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment” (John 12:1-8).

MAUNDY THURSDAY
The Last Supper
The disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” And he said, “Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, ‘The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at thy house with my disciples’” (Matthew 26:17-29).

The Garden of Gethsemane
“When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it” (John 18:1-11).

GOOD FRIDAY
Jesus before Annas and Caiaphas (Peter Denies Jesus)
“Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him, And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year” (John 18:12-26).

Jesus judged by Pilate and beaten
Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early…Pilate then went out unto them, and said, “What accusation bring ye against this man?” (John 18:28)

Jesus before Herod
“And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time” (Luke 23:7-25).

Jesus Crucified and Buried
“And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha” (John 19:16-37).

The Resurrection
“Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance” (John 20:1-23).
