I can not believe that Christmas is this coming week. This year has absolutely flown by. With everything that is going on, it is hard to get into the Christmas spirit. We almost ended up getting a fake tree this year due to cost and ease, but I am so glad we did not! We went and picked out a real Christmas tree with our family this year and that helped lift our spirits.
Our family has a fun tradition of picking out a tree, and coming home to lay out all the ornaments. We drink hot cocoa and put lights on the tree while listening to Christmas music. I like to give it one night to the let the tree rest and the branches drop. Then the the next night we order a pizza and decorate it with more Christmas music!
We love decorating the tree as a family, reminiscing about old ornaments and getting new special ones each year. My girls and I really enjoy making crafts, so ever since they were toddlers we have been making a new homemade ornament each year. Now that they are older, they are having fun looking for Christmas tree ornaments on their own.
I am always so busy the week leading up to Christmas. I am frantically cleaning the house, and making gifts and treats to pass out to neighbors, family and friends. If they aren’t helping me in the kitchen, I like to find other things to keep them busy. Sometimes I just enjoy Christmas music and a kitchen all to myself!
This is a great time to let the kids have fun with some busy Christmas themed activities. I like to find printable activity sheets, and easy ornaments they can make to give as gifts and to decorate the tree with.
