It’s almost the end of November – are you ready for a bit of a homeschool break? After all, the whirlwind holiday season is approaching, and if you’re like me you might feel ready to give your schoolbooks a break too. Now’s the perfect time to treat your children to some seasonal fun, like the mazes, matching work, games, and word searches in this Autumn Activity Pack.

When Autumn Weather Keeps You Indoors
Now I’m a big believer in taking homeschool breaks by spending time together outdoors as a family. We often head outdoors to take a break from bookwork.
We’ll tackle fall scavenger hunts, fall unit studies, and forest schooling in the cooler weather. And we make a point to get outdoors for at least 30 to 45 minutes daily.
Yet sometimes, that fall weather just doesn’t cooperate. That’s why I started keeping folders of printable activities on hand.
Depending on my children’s ages, they might get coloring sheets, matching games, memory games, or cut-and-paste activities.
On rainy, cold, or otherwise-miserable autumn days, I pull out an Autumn Activity Pack and a pack of pencils, erasers, glue sticks, and scissors.
Why An Activity Pack?
Autumn is a busy time around our house. I’m busy canning, pickling, and preserving our garden harvest. We get our chickens and our homestead ready for the harsh Arctic winter. And of course, we also have holiday planning and prep underway.
An activity pack offers a fun alternative to screen-time when heading outdoors just isn’t an option. And paper-based activities such as mazes, crosswords, patterning, and word searches help children hone their logical thinking and vocabulary skills.
How to Create Your Own Autumn Activity Pack
Over the years I’ve created several different themes. And as my children grew, each Autumn Activity Pack became more complex.
It’s easy to create your own customized Autumn Activity Pack suitable for your own kids’ ages and interests. I usually include some combination of the following:
- mazes
- crosswords
- word searches
- coloring sheets
- memory games
- matching exercises
- line tracing activity
- copywork
- printable board games
- I Spy sheets
- Cut-and-paste sheets
- Shadow matching activities
With so many free printables available online, it should only take you a couple of hours to make your own Autumn Activity Pack.
