Did you know there was a Constitution Day to celebrate? Before we homeschooled I didn’t! I remember learning about The Constitution and Amendments in school. I’m pretty sure we had to memorize the Preamble too. But beyond that, I couldn’t tell you much until we started homeschooling.
With the state of the world now, it is so important that our children understand the U.S. Constitution – it’s meaning and purpose. It isn’t enough to study it for just one day, but it is a good start. Do you know why Constitution Day is on September 17th? It is because that was the day the delegates at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia signed the document in 1787.
The first step to learning about The Constitution is to have your children read it. You can find a free copy to download (in parts) at Project Gutenberg. If your kids want their own copy of The Constitution, you can request your own pocket-sized version. You can also order a free copy of The Constitution & fascinating facts and just pay $3 for return postage shipping.
Celebrate Constitution Day as the perfect time to introduce and learn about the document that started the great United States.
