Whether you’re homeschoooling or sending your kids off to school, the school year is most likely in full swing or starting soon. And that means the summer days and nights are coming to an end. But it also means cooler weather is just around the corner if you live north!
Since we travel fulltime, we try to stay north during the hottest months in the south. We love being able to spend evenings and nights outside around the campfire in the cooler weather. My kids’ favorite thing to do is grill hot dogs and make s’mores over the fire. You can even cook hot dogs and use them as a base for another dish!
September is typically when school activities and sports start to ramp up again making time for meal prep and cooking limited. That’s the best time to use a meal plan! Whether you have a day of the week when you can shop and meal prep or you need something quick to throw together, we’ve got you covered with our meal plans!
Be Prepared for the School Year
I know when we first start back to homeschooling it feels like we just get started with our day and it’s time for lunch. And with multiple children waking up and eating at different times, breakfast and lunch seem to be a revolving door at our house. That’s why make-ahead breakfasts and easy lunches can be life (and time) savers!
And even though college sports may not be “normal” this fall, many of you may still watch the games. Make some fun snacks and themed food with these football-shaped recipe ideas! Another quick and easy meal option is crescent rolls. We find them on sale (or at Aldi) and can create a variety of different recipes that our family loves!
Mix and Match from Two Meal Plans
The regular meal plan includes slow cooker meals on Sundays and Wednesdays, for a break in the kitchen or to use on those busy days. There are a variety of meats and seafood with some seasonal salads to break it up just a bit. And on Friday nights we have grilled meals as we welcome summer.
Or choose the Instant Pot Meal Plan. On this plan, I have included some delicious seasonal meals with a variety of meats (fish, chicken, pork, beef), plus a few salads. And the suggestions for breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and desserts at the bottom are all Instant Pot recipes too!
There is a variety of meats (fish, chicken, beef, pork) as well as salads (on both plans) to keep the whole family happy. My hope each month is that you will find some new favorites to add to your own must-have rotation.
As always, feel free to move any of the recipes around as needed to fit your family’s schedule. You can also combine the two for more variety. And if you’d like to switch up some of the Slow Cooker Meals to an Instant Pot recipe, check out this Instant Pot beginners post for a great link to help!
