Who was C.S. Lewis?
Did you know that C.S. Lewis was an active atheist as a teenager? I think that is why he is such a great example to teach our kids about.
Our kids may have some doubts. Lord knows that we question things as well and we are adults. Stop for a moment to think of how our kids must feel.
In a day when the world says to gratify self, to do as you wish, we are trying to train our children to submit to an authority they can’t see and follow a Christ that many don’t know or are angered by the mention of him.
Clive Staples Lewis (C.S. Lewis) was Irish and was an Oxford and Cambridge literature professor. His popular writings include seven books in The Chronicles of Narnia Series, The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity, The Great Divorce, and a science fiction trilogy.
His works have a beautiful way of intertwining art, everyday life, and faith. I have heard it called literary evangelism.
In this current era when kids go to college and get disenfranchised with Christianity, CS Lewis’ was introduced to new ideas and deep learning in an university and it led to his conversion from an atheist to Christianity.
Without really studying C.S. Lewis we wouldn’t know about the complexity of who he was.
Recommended Resource: Mere Christianity Critical Analysis Journal
In this “Age of Tolerance,” Christians are in danger of forgetting (or never learning) what distinguishes a Christian worldview from other worldviews. The Mere Christianity Critical Analysis Journal is a powerful tool to strengthen critical thinking while cultivating a biblical worldview.
