Some kids love history, but handwriting – not so much. This FREE Battles of World War I copywork is a great way to combine the two subjects and encourage reluctant students to enjoy both.
You can help your students learn more about five key battles of World War I and incorporate some print handwriting practice at the same time with this FREE Battles of World War I Copywork.
This resource is made of five units. Each begins with several paragraphs that introduce the facts of the battle and gives kids the big picture. A key vocabulary word and definition that students can copy follows each battle introduction.
Next is a list of facts that students can copy onto the lined pages that follow. Facts include information such as:
- date(s) of the battle
- location of the battle
- the Allied leader(s)
- the German or Ottoman leader(s)
- who was victorious
- who lost the battle
Students can record other information about the battles that they learn on an additional lined page that is included for each battle. This 27-page unit is a great way to introduce your students to the:
- First Battle of the Marne
- First Battle of Ypres
- Gallipoli Campaign
- Battle of Verdun
- First Battle of the Somme
