Dr. Seuss Day

Dr. Seuss Day is a time to not only reflect on all the great books he wrote, but also encourage kids to start or continue reading. This is a fun way to introduce your kids to your favorite books.

Instilling a love of reading in your children isn’t always easy. Some of them are resistant, even if they are great readers. When that happens, I like to turn to fun books that will pique their interest as well as entertain. That changes for every age and child, but Dr. Seuss is a great place to start! You can even add in some fun Dr. Seuss coloring pages to go along with the books.

Favorite Dr. Seuss Books

I grew up reading Dr. Seuss books. I loved every one of them I could get my hands on. My mom signed us up for one of those book subscription things way back when and Dr. Seuss’s books were frequently in the deliveries. I’m pretty sure we ended up with tons of books because of it.

Dr. Seuss Books are Great for Beginning Readers

My kids have enjoyed many of the Dr. Seuss books as well. They are the perfect starter books for sight words, rhyming words, and of course, imagination. The silly, made-up words that are classic Seuss, add that whimsical element we’ve come to love in his stories.

Some of our favorite Dr. Suess books are The Foot Book, Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax, The Cat in the Hat, Oh! The Places You Will Go and Horton Hears a Whoo!

Kids of all ages love the books and can probably tell you who their favorite character is immediately.
