Once your children master the basics of math – addition and subtraction – they move on to multiplication and division. These four are the most basic operations in math and must be learned before moving on to more difficult operations.
Even if kids understand addition and subtraction, many of them still struggle with multiplication and division. They can be tricky until they learn to see the patterns and fully understand they are indeed connected to addition.
So how can you show them they are reconnected? It doesn’t have to be as hard as it sounds. There are plenty of games and activities that can teach kids the concept of repeated addition that leads to multiplication. And once they understand multiplication, they can better grasp division.
It is important that children not only learn their multiplication and division facts, but also that they comprehend them. If they don’t understand how they work or why it will be difficult for them as they move forward in their math studies.
Use these FREE Multiplication and Division worksheets, games and learning activities to help kids grasp and understand the concept as well as memorize the facts.
