A new school year always gets me so excited. I love the planning and organizing of new books. I enjoy the lesson preparations as well as the smell of the new books and papers. Yes, it may be a little weird, but many of you homeschooling moms can relate. Another thing that gets me super excited is a fresh start in a brand new year.

Tools to Organize Your Homeschool for the New Year

A new year is a great way to reevaluate how your past homeschool year has been going. If you are following your local school’s schedule then this will most likely be the second semester of your school year. Second semester is a great time to change anything up that isn’t working, or add new things that you have been wanting to do.

I love the opportunity of a fresh start. Sometimes I tend to guilt myself into being upset that we haven’t been able to stay on top of things. I feel guilty that I keep forgetting to give that weekly spelling test, or all those read alouds I wanted to tackle.

A new year is a wonderful time to create new goals like giving a weekly spelling test or adding a new morning time routine. It is also a great way to get a handle on any things your children have been struggling with. If they need more practice with a specific subject, you can tailor the rest of the year to hone in on what they need help with.

Do you want to jump on the organization bandwagon this New Year?

One thing that I always need help with in our homeschool is with organization! With multiple children I am homeschooling we have a lot of papers and books. Add in the craziness of working at home, and the holidays I can never seem to keep up with everything. Then throw in new books and things from Christmas and there is a lot of stuff that needs to be reorganized.

There are bookshelves that need to be reorganized all nice and pretty for a fresh start. Our school boxes and school folders are always a disaster. If you can take the time now to sort things you won’t have a huge pile to sort through at the end of the school year.

Organizing your homeschool in the New Year can save you half the amount of stress that you will normally have at the end of the school year!
