We know how important reading is, both for children to learn to be independent readers and to read together as a family. This FREE Reading Chart and Wish List from Compass Classroom is a great tool to record what your children have read, if they liked it (or not), and what books they’d like to read in the future. If you’re a checklist fan like me, this free resource is for you!

10 Best Read Alouds for the Whole Family

I remember the reading lists my mom would make me as a child. They were usually stuck to the refrigerator with magnets so they were easy to add to whenever I finished a book. That would be a great way to display this resource. This FREE Reading Chart and Wish List includes room to record:

  • the name of the book
  • the book’s author
  • the date your child started the book
  • the date your child finished the book
  • what your child thought about the book (with a rating system of 1-5 stars)

There’s also a bonus page to record books your child would like to read, where the book is found (so you can keep track if you need to borrow or request it from the library), and a place to check off when the book has been read. It’s a great tool and can even be used to motivate kids to fill the boxes with check marks.

Could you use some ideas for what to do when a child does not like to read? Or what if you hate reading aloud? Check out these posts we think you’ll enjoy:
