Creating a slow and meaningful Christmas season is such a wonderful experience for you and your children.
Christmas can come and go so fast. We buy gifts, prepare for special events, dinners and occasions, attend parades, festivals and markets all in the name of the season.
But what about the reason for Christmas?
What are we doing all of this for?
If we’re not taking the time to slow down and reflect on the season, the very reason Jesus was born and came to the earth, it’ll all just pass us by.
Reflection
Being that it’s another Christmas, it’s easy to read the Bible verses concerning the events leading up to Jesus’ birth and not give it too much thought; it’s tradition after all.
But what if God has a word for you or your children in this season of your lives and there’s something He wants to share with you personally from the Christmas story?
I would encourage you to sit down together as a family reading the Christmas story as if it’s your first time. Read it with fresh eyes, a renewed perspective and an open heart considering the following:
- The prophetic words of Jesus being born through the Old Testament.
- To whom Jesus was born to.
- Mary hearing the angel and choosing to accept what it meant to carry the Son of God.
- Joseph’s willingness to accept a miracle that would make a mockery out of him and Mary.
- The place where Jesus was born and why there was no room at the inn.
- Those that came to celebrate and worship the King.
- What it means to have God With Us.
