Have you tried teaching your kids with unit studies? If your child shows interest in certain subjects or activities, unit studies are a great way for you to make the most out of it. Learn about 101+ homeschool unit study themes and this FREE planner to give you a place to start.
When I first started homeschooling I made a huge mistake to give my kids, my young kids, an online curriculum as their sole source for homeschooling. The only extra subject they received was the Bible.
My son did OK since I was more hands-on with him as he needed my attention more. He is very hyperactive and was younger.
My daughter had a bad experience. She was bored, flew by some things and got completely stuck on others. Of course, I learned the hard way but now that I am in the swing of homeschooling, I know what my kids like.
In order to break up any monotony in my homeschool lessons, I tend to periodically use unit studies. Unit studies are thematic units usually built around your child’s interests. This helps get them motivated and engaged in learning.
Another cool thing about unit studies is that you can actually homeschool multiple ages with the thematic units. You can make the unit studies adjustable and flexible and your children can all learn together.
