As an early learning teacher, I always started my year off with an apple theme. I was typical and my kids loved it. I had no shame. I even brought it out in between themes just because. You know that April/May period where I could take a break from holidays or niche events.
Maybe it is the pop of red and green. I also kept a behavior chart that was a huge laminated green tree and brown trunk. Each child had their name on an apple and would have to remove it if they weren’t listening or this someone etc., at the end of the week if their apple was on the tree they could reach into the treasure box for a goodie!
I had no shame in my bribery back then. I did what worked and kids loved me – and I them. Did I say bribery? I meant “reward system.”
