Don’t judge me. I really love YouTube for my kids. It has such a wealth of information; readily accessible and it’s FREE. How can we go wrong, right? Well, we all know that YouTube can go really wrong — and fast. Find out how you can block channels on YouTube & YouTube Kids for your little ones at home with the Safe Vision App.

How to Block Channels on YouTube & YouTube Kids

Someone told me a while ago that if I write the word “clean” in front of a YouTube searched word that the search should come back with “clean” results in a category. Well, that did NOT work. Don’t try that, parents, trust me.

Have you ever heard of the Safe Vision YouTube & YouTube Kids Monitoring App? This is the first I have heard of it but I plan on trying the free version soon.

We use YouTube for a few things at home, but there is no way I would use it with my kids without prescreening the material I use. We use YouTube for learning worship songs/hymn, virtual tours of geographical locations or museums, viewing high-tech science experiments, and more.

Although I view these videos before showing my kids, sometimes advertisements pop up that my kids know they have to turn away from. They know to place their hands over their ears as well. Sometimes these advertisements are unavoidable and that is so frustrating.

I am really hopeful about Safe Vision. The app is said to:

  • allow you to access videos curated by age
  • block YouTube channels
  • block individual videos
  • add channels & videos you want your child to watch
  • limit YouTube/YouTube Kids daily viewing
  • track videos watched
  • and more!
