Natural selection. For many who hold to a six-day, Biblical Creation, the mere mention of natural selection can be unsettling. But should it be?
Sadly, this reaction is more the result of evolutionary propaganda than it is a shying away from scientific “proof” that evolution occurs, so therefore creation must not have. In reality, it has nothing to do with evolution. It was a scientific theory well before Charles Darwin leveraged it for his own origins model. It was even discussed by a creationist, Edward Blyth, roughly 20 years before Darwin published his Origin of Species.
So, how should we react when evolutionary scientists, skeptics, or even creationists bring up natural selection?
With understanding that natural selection is an observable, scientific phenomena, and even plays a role within Biblical Creation, but that it is limited in its scope.
