Although the turmoils of our day don’t usually include the fear of death, persecution, or imminent doom, our constant struggles need the daily strengthening in God’s Word. The storms of life need His intervention.
I know many people tend to compare their struggles to the struggles of others. I have done it myself.
I had a roommate once, in a time that was truly the worst struggle of my life. I was in a dark cloud for years as a single mom.
My roommate was a single woman, and pretty well off. She would come home almost daily complaining about her day. I would listen and listen. Inside, I was getting more and more bitter.
Here I was struggling with kids as a single mom, drowning in bills, and more chaos than I could share right now. Then here this lady who was a Christian longer time than me, complaining about silly things.
I finally came to realize through some hard and tough truth from another sister-in-Christ, that God made us specifically unique. He made special shoes to fit us only. We couldn’t walk in another’s shoes and no one could walk in ours.
Therefore, we don’t judge our struggles against another person. We all struggle with different things. We all need Jesus equally.
As Christians, we all may all one day share the storm of defending our faith and fighting for God’s truth — maybe, at a great cost like the Australian rugby player Israel Folau. Until then, our struggles are our own and we need the Lord in every step no matter how great or small. Side note: Please join me in prayer for this brother in Christ as he stands in truth with many against him.
