I have to admit that I have never heard of Elderberries, until now. After reading this article, I am all in and will try growing some with my children this year. Don’t miss out on these FREE recipes and printables for elderberries, a pretty plant with some pretty awesome benefits.
Elderberries have some awesome health benefits like being high in vitamin C and fiber, along with being rich in anthocyanins (a bioactive compound reported to inhibit several diseases). Some people even make elderberry syrup for cold and flu season as it is known to have some sort of healing effects for the symptoms.
There are so many lessons that can be taught with learning all about elderberries – growing the seeds in your garden or pot, health benefits, and making the recipes.
A few of the recipes which I want to try this year with elderberries are:
- Elderberry gummies! (My kids will love this)
- Elderberry pie
- Peanut butter and jelly energy balls (for me and hubby, NOT the kids)
- Elderberry syrup for cold and flu season
