Hoagies. Some people call them sub sandwiches and others call them hoagies. Some have a weird name for them, but we’ll go with one of these two for now. I remember when Subway opened near us. It was all the rage.
I loved their fresh-baked bread and watching them make the sandwich in front me seemed like it was a great way to get just what you wanted. You were able to choose your own bread, cheese, meat and toppings. Extra mayo, no problem. No onions, easy. It was like heaven for a picky eater like me!
I loved them so much, my local store knew me by name and my usual order. So I decided to work there. Free/discounted subs and get paid – sign me up! I loved my time working at Subway. I learned a lot about food preparation and that I truly loved the smell of fresh-baked bread.
So after I got married and started having kids, I learned how to make my own bread. It was so delicious and made my house smell amazing! Whether you’re just starting out as a baker or you’re experienced, making subs can be hard. You want them firm enough to hold together, but soft inside. Try this recipe from The Kitchen Whisperer to get you started.
