Have you been wanting to teach your children about controlling their tongue? These five strategies will help you teach your kiddos how to practice controlling what they say. Some of us adults can use some tips as well. I know I do. The Lord has helped me with my tongue, but it wasn’t easy. Teaching our children biblically about watching what they say will be something that they can heed to as an adult as well. It makes it difficult when they have witnessed you not holding your tongue, however, don’t let that stop you. You can change and they can learn.
This write up explains why it is so important for kids, and adults, to control their tongues. Taking steps that will physically remind you to be slow to speak, quick to listen, and slow to be angry will equip your kids to learn how to control themselves in a society that doesn’t. I remember when, yes as an adult, I was seeking the Lord to help me hold my tongue with my husband. It was so hard.
I literally, would have to pray in my head to combat opening my mouth. Whether we are right or wrong, we always benefit when we obey God’s Word. Obeying His Word is one of the only things that inevitably was followed with a blessing from God — every time. Obeying God should be more important to us than winning an argument.
God is faithful and just. Controlling our tongue is something the Bible clearly says is extremely difficult, however through Him, it is possible. Let’s help our children to practice this good teaching from the Lord.
