Exposing children to new vocabulary is so important. And, adding seasonal vocabulary to writing centers is an easy way to introduce a group of new words. Children are able to learn new words much more rapidly than adults are.
As homeschoolers, we can help our kids broaden their vocabulary skills be taking every opportunity, such as seasonal words, and helping them to learn what things mean as well as words with similar meanings and even antonyms. We love having a thesaurus handy as that helps children to expand their vocabulary.
Spring is here and that means lots of fun new words can be taught to our children through hands-on learning as well as unit studies, such as a gardening unit.
