Need some resources to teach or review beginning sounds? This low-prep, 18-picture free resource will help your kiddos master beginning sounds. All your child has to do is cut out the headers and the pictures, glue or place each header at the top of a column, and say the name of each picture. After he/she names the picture out loud, he/she can glue or place it in the right column.
Some things to know about the picture sorts for beginning sounds:
- They progress from easy to hard.
- Your child should just do one sort per day.
- Use fun alphabet activities before teaching a new sound.
- Struggling kids can store the pieces in a plastic bag and review the same sort until they are ready to move on.
Perfecting beginning sounds are so exciting for kids and moms. When achieving this milestone it opens the doors to reading harder and more complex sounds. Having low-prep activities are perfect for the homeschooling family. You can easily store these in a plastic bag and take it with you on grocery trips, doctor’s appointments, car rides and other times when your child can keep busy learning.
