Why is the English language so complicated. It truly is. Go to another country and you will see that English is not easy at all. With all the little nuances of long vowels, short vowels, homonyms (words that are spelled the same but have different meanings – COME ON!), silent “e” sounds, and why doesn’t Sean and Bean rhyme? I mean, we can go on and on about this. Therefore, any help we can give our kids to help them understand these distinctions is super useful.
You have to laugh about it really. I mean English has a lot of weird things going on like the “ei” sounding like “ee” when “ea” also sounds like “ee”, amongst other things (I told you could go on and on). If you’re working on the magic e (also called “silent e” or “sneaky e”) in your homeschool, then these FREE clip cards can be really useful to keep handy and practice as much as possible.
