When my husband and I got married, I was not a big cook. I loved to bake, but not cook. However, he was a wonderful cook and was so patient to teach me over the years. Eventually I got better, but I still don’t enjoy it.
When we set up our registry, he was very specific and intentional on our cookware. I wanted the “pretty” ones, but he was all about functionality. Over the years I have learned to appreciate his taste in cookware, as we have most of our original items.
One piece he insisted on was a cast iron skillet. My parents never owned one, so I always thought they were for people that lived in cabins or those who worked on ranches. Yes…I was that naive. So we bought a pre-seasoned one and after a few uses, I was convinced!
I made eggs, omelettes, ground turkey…pretty much anything we ate was cooked in it. It wasn’t until later that I found out you could make entire desserts in them. So I started doing some searching and found some outrageously delicious recipes that I can’t wait to try!
