Many homeschoolers teach science through living science books. This can make science more interesting and less boring for your students. The 3-book collection authored by Julia Rothman has beautiful line drawings with interesting facts that many kids would love to sketch. You could create a beautiful notebooking journal by topic in which they could copy the drawing and then use the facts that go along with each sketch as copywork!
Included in this beautiful full-color set is Farm Anatomy, Nature Anatomy, and Food Anatomy AND you get 10 framable prints. This offer is sure not to last, so don’t miss out. It is normally $59 but you can get it for $20.50.
This Julia Rothman Collection is available on sale here.
What is Living Science?
If you are looking for the opposite of boring science and the dull textbooks that make your child’s ears hum and mind wander, then perhaps a living science book would be of some help! Science topics come alive when reading a living science book. Some living science books include a captivating story that children can relate to in a way that naturally integrates learning. We have been using Sassafras Science the past two years, and while we don’t love volume 2 as much as we enjoyed volume 1, my daughter still looks forward to science.
Living science books sometimes include interesting facts accompanied by pictures instead of stories. This can be fun if your children love to draw and you like the aspect of copywork. Creating notebooking journals can be precious keepsakes and help them to enjoy what they are learning. I have been eyeballing the Farm Anatomy and Nature Anatomy books because my daughter loves to draw and I want to create notebooking journals to accompany them (of course I will share them with you!) Even though we have some food allergies in our house, we still consider ourselves “foodies” and she enjoys learning how to cook, so Food Anatomy will also be a great addition to our homeschool!
