Talking and writing about an artist is a great way to introduce art history in your homeschool. This free art history lesson on Mary Cassatt is a great study on a female artist to inspire almost any girl. Mary was an American born female painter and printmaker who trail blazed the road for future generations of female artist. Mary lived in a time when women were encouraged to take up art as a hobby, but weren’t seriously looked at as having a “career” as an artist. What was cool for me to know (and good for your kids) is that her artwork focuses on motherhood, nurturing and relationships; which makes her work super kid friendly and relatable.
