Check out these 7 easy tips on teaching boys to love learning. To those of us who have super hyper boys, this seems a little far fetched. “Like” learning, I can maybe see, but “loving” learning is a whole other concept. Traditional teaching methods can be detrimental to our sons, and we don’t even know it. However, with a little bit of effort, we can make learning much more appealing for our boys.
One time I did, well I said something horrible to my son. I didn’t know how bad it would be until the words, like a scolding fire, exploded out of my mouth. The minute I said it and I saw his face, I knew it would take a lot of work and effort for him to heal. He was at a regular school at the time, and he just wasn’t doing well. The teachers always loved him, because of his beautiful and caring heart. Getting him to sit and do work, however was just beyond their scope. I found out he was lying to me about not having homework, for a looooong time apparently. After a lecture session, I told him, “Do you want to be dumb?!”
That, honestly, was the worst thing I ever told him. It felt like venom when it was out. Like a cancer. I actually, don’t think he will ever forget it. That horrible thing I said out of my mouth, that I can’t ever take back, made me realize I was doing things all wrong. There are things we can do teach our boys and in ways that they “get”. Thank goodness for help like this, which we can glean from.
