Navigating the highschool years can be so difficult some times. We want our teens to learn responsibility and we need to teach them how to be organized and how to stay on task to get all of their work and assignments done.
Sometimes our teens will fail, and that is okay. I remember when my oldest was not being diligent with his math curriculum. No matter what I did he just wouldn’t do all of his work and was just skating by. This only hurt him in the long run as he struggled to pass the college placement test for Math. He now knows what his mistakes were and he has not repeated those mistakes in his college classes. Those last couple of highschool years were very stressful for me as I was trying to guide him, but also let him make mistakes so he could learn from them.
If you are wondering when it is ok to allow your teens to fail you must check out this great Homeschool Highschool Podcast from the Ultimate Homeschool Radio Network.
